Horizon of Nature: Rare Tree Species with Beautiful White Blossoms Discovered in Xikou’s Mountains

A giant Chinese Stewartia tree was discovered in the mountains of Xikou Town in Fenghua District. This rare deciduous tree has a long history and is protected in Zhejiang Province. It belongs to the Theaceae family. In Ningbo, it grows between 400 and 700 meters above sea level, with wide spacing. It blooms from May to June, producing pearly white flowers. The tree has attractive peeling paper-like reddish-brown bark. Experts believe the Chinese Stewartia has great potential as an ornamental tree for roadside planting and landscape design.
